nextstop API

Active members of the nextstop community will know that one of our key goals is to build a set of tools that let people easily share the places and things to do that they love, and then organize that information so that others can discover great experiences that they otherwise wouldn't know about.

As part of this, we want to make sure that the recommendations nextstoppers contribute are as broadly accessible as possible -- on nextstop.com but also anywhere else on the web where that information would help others find interesting things to do around the world.

To that end, today we're opening up the nextstop API (Application Programming Interface) that makes it easy for any other website or application to use nextstop content. To give you a flavor of how this might be interesting, we've put together several API examples, including the "guide map" that is embedded in this post.

For developers, we've tried to make this API as flexible and open as possible -- pretty much everything you can find on nextstop you can get through the API. As long as you follow a few simple terms, we're happy to have the great recommendations that nextstoppers have made be visible everywhere.

For nextstoppers, we hope this will lead to broader distribution of your recommendations and guides, and more visibility for the places you've recommended. We've tried to make sure that your recommendations will only be used appropriately, and be attributed to nextstop and you.

If you have any questions or feedback about this, please send us a note or post a message on the API support forum.

In the meanwhile, check out this example that puts a nextstop guide on a map in a way that can be easily embedded on any website.

nextstop is a community effort to build a catalog of all the best things to do, places to go, and experiences to try anywhere in the world. Our long term goal is to help you find something great to get out and do — whatever you are interested in, whatever language you speak, and wherever you are. More
